Justice Wing

This Wing deals with the Administration of Justice pertaining to the Delhi High Court and subordinate courts which includes grant of administrative approval/expenditure sanction to various plan/non-plan schemes and also taking up various court cases for Parvi where the personnel of judiciary is involved. It also deals with the establishment of various Family Courts and other kinds of courts as decided by government from time to time for effective redressal of disputes in consultation with the Hon'ble High Court of Delhi.

Under the Plan Schemes, the major project at present being executed is construction of District Courts at Rohini which is likely to be completed by 31st March, 2003. Other major projects under the Plan Scheme being undertaken are the construction of district courts complex at Dwarka for which funds to the tune of Rs.76 crores have been allocated. Apart from this there is a proposal to set up District Court at Saket for which building plans are under preparation and setting up of 15 Family Courts at various locations in the NCT of Delhi is at very advance stage and the land in this regard has substantially been identified. There is also a proposal to construct Judicial Academy for purpose of imparting in service training to all Delhi Judicial Officers as well as fresh recruited Delhi Judicial Officers for the National Capital Territory of Delhi.

Administrator General and Official Trustee

Apart from looking after the litigation work, this Wing has an institution of Administrator General and Official Trustee who is a statutory functionary deriving the sustenance from the Administrator General Act and Official Trustee Act and is responsible for looking after and taking control of all kinds of unclaimed moveable as well as immoveable properties falling in the jurisdiction of National Capital Territory of Delhi. The Administrator General and Official Trustee is also empowered to issue Succession Certificates the value of which does not exceed Rs. 2 lakhs. At present this assignment is unmanned and necessary steps are being contemplated to fill up this assignment from amongst the panel lawyers of the Government of National Capital Territory of Delhi

Delhi Legal Services Authority

This department is functioning as an administrative department of the Delhi Legal Services Authority formerly known as Delhi Legal Aid and Advice Board. Its primary job is to render assistance to the weaker sections, down trodden, SC/STs , womens etc. who are unable to afford cost of engaging legal counsels. For speedy redressal of the disputes relating to variety of issues including the Motor Accidents Claims Tribunal, Family Disputes and also in connection with the matters of the consumers relating to the departments such as MTNL, erstwhile Delhi Vidyut Board etc. This authority organizes lok adalats for resolution of such disputes expeditiously. A number of cases setteled by such lok adalats during the last three years is given below:- 1999-2000 4027 2000-2001 4376 2001-2002 6852

Due to this informal less expensive mechanism of resolution of disputes, a large number of cases have been solved during the year. The Hon'ble the Chief Justice of the Hon'ble High Court of Delhi is patron in chief of the authority and monitor the functioning of the authority. The Office of the Authority is located at Patiala House and a High Court Legal Services Committee under the Delhi Legal Services Authority which takes care of the grievances of the citizens is located at 2nd floor of the building of the High Court of Delhi at New Delhi.
