Litigation Wing
The Litigation Wing of this department is responsible for the coordination and monitoring of the Litigation going on in various courts against various departments of the NCT of Delhi. For effectively defending the interest of the Government, this department undertakes an exercise periodically to prepare panel of advocates in respect of High Court, Central Administrative Tribunal, District Courts and Sales tax Appellate Tribunal. Those applicants who fulfill the requirements as laid down under the guidelines are considered for appointment as Panel Advocates. At present, the strength of various panels is as follows:

The Litigation Wing also decides and regulates the fee structure for the Panel Advocates engaged in various judicial forums and also decides the retainership fees and remuneration being paid to the Standing Counsels and the Addl. Public Prosecutors respectively. In this regard it undertakes periodical exercise to consider the fee revision in the light of general rise in the Price Index.
Office of the Law Officers including PPs
Office of the Law Officers is an institution available in the Department of Law, Justice & Legislative Affairs with Secretary (L&J) as its Head of department supported by Deputy Secretary (L&J) as head of Office. This office is responsible for making payment of retainership fee to all the Standing Counsels (Civil/Criminal), Additional Standing Counsels (Civil/Crl) as well as making payments of the professional bills submitted by Supreme Court Law Officers and Panel Lawyers who represent N.C.T. Govt. in the Supreme Court as well as the amicus-curies appointed by the various courts of the city. This office is also making payment of the professional charges to the Addl. Public Prosecutors appointed on behalf of the Government in Delhi High Court. The Law Office also renders all kind of ministerial assistance to the Standing Counsels/Additional Standing Counsels in the Delhi High Court.
